Armatures

This is roughly what Laura and I have posted on the forums to Adam. Though I’ve added some detail to the £3.00 models to explain why we think there rubbish.

We would really like to use armatures in our video but do not know if you or the budget will allow it. So in short can we use them, which one's can we have on this list or do you have some about the place you could donate? We need 7 at the moment. One for each band member, then one for the ogre. We want to currently work around 6inches tall. Laura and I have found the following at these links. I know Adam Oliver’s linked to one on a thread in here but the listings ended so it’s not coming up.

The first ones our favourite so far. If it’s ok, please can you buy them using the budget money, because non of us has the spare cash to buy them then hand you the receipt and then wait for the money to be refunded to us out the budget. I don't think it will work any other way, unless one of us isn't going to eat for a few weeks. I think the sensible thing would be just to buy one at first rather then buy 7 at once then we can see if we can swap heads etc. As if we buy all seven at once, it will cost £137.27 and that way if it doesn't work we won't be completely doomed financially.

Apparently fully customizable DIY armature at £22.69 inc p&p each. The feet are magnetic and our set probably will be made of papier-mâché and card. Though the magnets could still be taken advantage of if we glue coins to the set for the feet to stick to. Also if we did that with coins, they could become target marks for where the next foot is going to be placed in a stride. Might be worth getting one just to see how good they are.

http://www.animationtoolkit.com sells them for £21.98 inc p&p. The website also has some nice video guides on how to assemble them. So their looking like the most practical option so far.

Laura found this one, that’s 5inches but they go up in different sizes so there 6inch, 7inch and so on at 10p more each size up. However I think we’ve both agreed that she’s selling them for stop motion when she’s really made them for forming poses for oven bake dolls so hours of abuse will probably snap them. There roughly £3.19 each.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FAIRYTASIA-5-Wire-Armature-for-OOAK-Fairy-Art-Doll-Fae_W0QQitemZ370271559185QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Doll_Bears_Dolls_EH?hash=item5635e79e11

Most of the very professional stuff I thinks definitely out of our budget range as most of these websites go up from £40 but I’ve included them just to show I’ve had a good look.http://www.animationsupplies.net/aluminiumarmature.php
